Medical Office Assistant

The Organization

The Opportunity

Nlaka’pamux Health Services Society is seeking a Medical Office Assistant (Mental Health and Primary Care Support) to be the first point of contact for clients and visitors. This role manages reception, booking, and EMR documentation; supports clinicians with scanning/faxing/filing; maintains supplies; and assists with yearly data pulling/reporting for program requirements.

We are looking for an organized, welcoming professional who enjoys helping clients access care. The ideal candidate will join our team as a Medical Office Assistant (MOA) supporting Mental Health and Primary Care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reception, client support, and culturally safe service
  • Appointment booking, reminders, and clinician calendar management
  • EMR data entry, chart maintenance, scanning/faxing/filing
  • Office and program supply inventory
  • Office and program supply ordering
  • Support for annual data pulls and reporting tasks

Qualifications

  • MOA certificate or equivalent administrative/clinic experience
  • Strong communication/ organization skills
  • Implements confidentiality practices when necessary
  • EMR proficiency (or quick learner) and Microsoft 365 skills
  • Experience in Indigenous or community health settings is an asset.

Compensation

$20 – $24 per Hour (based on experience)

Child & Youth Mental Health Counsellor

The Opportunity

Nlaka’pamux Health Services Society is seeking a Child & Youth Mental Health Counsellor to deliver developmentally appropriate, trauma‐informed counselling and group programs for children and youth, with family engagement. Responsibilities include intake, assessment, treatment planning, crisis/safety planning, case coordination, and documentation.

We are looking for a counsellor who enjoys working alongside children, youth, and families to build resilience. Help us deliver child/youth counselling and culturally grounded group programming.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1:1 and family counselling for children/youth; crisis support as required
  • Group planning and facilitation (skills, psycho‐education, culturally aligned activities)
  • Intake, assessment, treatment plans, progress reviews, and EMR notes
  • School and community collaboration; coordinated referrals
  • Participation in required reporting and program evaluation

Qualifications

  • Master’s in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Child & Youth Care, or related (preferred); Bachelor’s with experience considered
  • Eligible for/registered with a relevant professional body
  • Experience with Child/Youth counselling, crisis/safety planning, and family engagement
  • Knowledge of Indigenous contexts, intergenerational trauma, and protective factors
  • Class 5 BC licence; travel within the Nation as needed

Adult Mental Health Counsellor

The Opportunity

Nlaka’pamux Health Services Society is seeking an Adult Mental Health Counsellor who provides therapeutic counselling, plans and facilitates groups, coordinates referrals, and participates in team‐based case conferences. You will complete intake, assessment, treatment planning, and documentation while supporting community outreach and wellness activities.

We are looking for a counsellor who practices trauma‐informed, culturally safe care. Join our Mental Health Team to support adults through 1:1 counselling, group work, and coordinated care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Individual counselling using trauma‐informed, strengths‐based approaches.
  • Group facilitation (psycho‐education, skills‐based, wellness).
  • Intake, assessment, treatment plans, and safety/crisis planning.
  • Case coordination with internal teams and partner services.
  • EMR documentation and contribution to program reporting/evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Master’s in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field (preferred); Bachelor’s with relevant experience considered.
  • Eligible for/registered with a professional body (e.g., BCACC, BCCSW, CCPA).
  • 2–3 years’ recent counselling experience with adults (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Indigenous wellness approaches; cultural humility required.
  • Class 5 BC licence; ability to travel as needed.

Wellness Team Leader

The Opportunity

Nlaka’pamux Health Services Society’s Wellness Team Leader supervises the Wellness Coordinators (Adult, Youth, Elders) and stewards day‐to‐day program delivery. The role focuses on team coaching, annual budget planning, scheduling, community partnerships, and ensuring culturally safe programming. We are looking for a leader who loves coordinating wellness programs and supporting a strong team. Help us lead Adult, Youth, and Elders wellness programming with compassion and cultural integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide mentorship, scheduling, and performance support to Coordinators
  • Lead planning for workshops, groups, events, and cultural activities
  • Support yearly budget planning and track program resources
  • Build and sustain partnerships with external organizations for aligned, complementary programming
  • Maintain reporting and activity summaries for funders and internal use

Qualifications

  • Diploma/degree in Social Services, Indigenous Studies, Health & Wellness, Education, or related field—or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervision experience
  • Program planning and partnership development skills
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities Knowledge of cultural safety
  • Strong organization and communication skills; Class 5 BC licence
